Bill BroPrivacy Policy

Who we are
Bill Bro is an iPhone app for tracking bills and sharing them with friends. In this policy "we" means the developer of Bill Bro. Questions? Email support@billbro.app.
Data that stays on your iPhone
These are stored only on your device (and in your device backups, if you use them). We don't receive them:
- Your bills, amounts, due dates, categories, notes and payment history
- Runway: your account balance, income and plans
- Your app settings and reminders
- Spreadsheets and screenshots you import — they're read on your iPhone
Data we store to run the service
Your account
If you create an account, we store your email address (or the address Sign in with Apple gives us, which can be a private relay address), an account ID, and the username you choose. You control whether other users can find you by username in Settings.
Sharing with buddies (optional, Pro)
Sharing a bill, recording a payment between buddies, or sending a nudge creates a message that is encrypted on your iPhone before it's sent, so only you and the buddies you share with can read it. Our server stores the encrypted message along with who sent it, who it's for, what kind of update it is and when, so it can be delivered to your buddy's devices. We also store your public encryption key (so buddies can encrypt messages to you) and short-lived invite codes used to connect buddies.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token and your notification preferences so we can tell you about buddy activity. Notification text is generic — it doesn't include bill names or amounts.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details; the app only checks with Apple whether your subscription is active.
On-device intelligence
Features like smart search, unusual-bill alerts and reading bills from screenshots use Apple's on-device models. Your data isn't sent to us or to any AI service to power them. You can turn these features off in Settings.
What we don't do
- No advertising and no ad networks
- No analytics or tracking SDKs, and no tracking across other apps or websites
- We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't share it except as described here
Service providers
Account and sharing data is stored with our hosting provider, Supabase, which processes it on our behalf. Notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service, and purchases through Apple's App Store.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Delete your account anytime in Bill Bro: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This removes your account, profile, public key, invite codes, notification settings and the messages waiting for you from our server.
- Encrypted messages you've already sent to buddies (including the notice that you've left) stay so their devices can receive them. Only those buddies can read them.
- On-device data is removed when you delete it in the app or delete the app.
Security
Data sent between the app and our server is encrypted in transit, shared bill details are encrypted end to end, and your private encryption key is kept in your iPhone's Keychain (synced through iCloud Keychain if you use it, so your other devices can read your shared bills).
Children
Bill Bro isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date above. For significant changes, we'll let you know in the app.
